Default Do you think Lawrence will overtake Bryant?

Do you think Trevor Lawrence will overtake Johnson as the starting quarterback?

I think from a "fan judgement" perspective TL already has more talent than KB and is a better pure QB than KB.

It's totally up to the coaches if TL "overtakes" KB.

Personally, I believe Lawrence and Johnson give us a better chance to win than Bryant. I donít foresee the coaches demoting Bryant from starter until we lose a game.

I think Lawrence's superior talent will force the coach's hand at some point, I'm just not sure when that will be. From a pure quarterbacking perspective, Lawrence is clearly the better QB, but his lack of experience in our system and lack of playing time at the collegiate level are surly working against him in the eyes of our coaches.

I fully expect to hear a lot of coach speak the rest of the spring and summer, and probably into fall, about how Bryant just had a bad day in the spring game, how he usually makes those throws in practice, how he led us to a great season last year, etc. Who knows if that means our coaches see KB differently than we all did yesterday, or if they are just giving him respect as our senior returning starter.

I'd take TL and HJ and let them battle it out in camp. Prep the offense now for one of those guys.

From what I saw yesterday, he already has, now it's up to Dabo to do what he says and play the best...

Based from yesterdayís game, I expect the 2nd and 3rd string QBís will get plenty of playing time this year. If HJ doesnít transfer I would think he has a good chance to win the starting job. Iím not so sure TL wouldnít be better served holding down the backup job. Focus on the weight room, on field experience as the backup and then 2019 is his time to take the helm.

By not moving Kelly to Wr or Safety he is killing his stock at the next level. He should call Braxton Miller and ask him how he likes play Wr in the NFL instead of sitting on his couch talking about how he started at Qb for OSU

I agree about such a move being necessary for Bryant to play in the NFL, but a position change is very hard at this level and Bryant's athleticism does not stand out as much at those positions as it does at quarterback. I don't see how he would come close to getting any playing time as a wide receiver with us. He could possibly move to safety, but again, adjusting to that position and being able to contribute there more than the other safeties we have on our roster would be very tough. A position change is something he would've ideally made a couple of years ago, not now with only one year of eligibility remaining.

I hope so. He's already a far superior talent. I love what KB did for us last year but for this offense to be what it can be and reach it's true potential
we have to have a starting QB who can sling the ball around to our insane
amount of skill talent. As much as I like KB I have to say he's been out-recruited. The spring game rules highlighted his inadequacy's and they are
glaring.

Judging by what I saw, Kelly shouldnít even be the back up.

Well IMHO Tajh was a much better QB than KB. If Tajh couldnít make it as a QB in the NFL I canít imagine how KB will. At the same time Iím just not sure KB would get much PT at another position at Clemson either.

Kelly played as a true freshman right? This would be an out of the norm decision but if he took a redshirt and spent the season as the emergency 4th string QB, and started training at safety then heíd be in a better position to show his skills on defense in 2019. He is so athletic, it seems like heíd have good chance to contribute once heís had the chance to learn the position.

The answer is of course, Yes

The questions is the wrong tense.

The timing of the overtaking was Saturday at 2:45 PM

I know it sounds cliche but I would use Kelly for certain packages for a spark (where running the ball may help on a series, etc). I would also give him reps at wr or safety to use as depth, etc.

At the end of the day it's about what's best for the team and KB as starting QB isn't it (in the best interest of KB or Clemson).

Agree! That is a great comparison.

A friend and I were talking during the game and Kelly looked like he was reliving the sugar bowl. All his throws were high and long. He had 3 straight 3-and-outs. He did not look good at all.

There is a precedent though. Watson didn't even get to start the first game when Stoudt was here. Though Stoudt and Kelly are two very different players, the situation is similar.

Kelly certainly did not handle the pressure well Saturday. And if you can't handle that pressure you will probably not handle the CFP pressure.
