Are you concerned?
Are you concerned there was no running game at all in the spring game?

Re: Are you concerned?
Not really at this point. That Dline is nasty even if it was split. Also felt like we didn’t call as many running plays

Re: Are you concerned?
No, that's the best front 7 in football and they are deep. Were not there yet with the oline. The run game will be ok.

Re: Are you concerned?
No, for two reasons:
1. Our defense is outstanding.
2. Our focus should be on being a pass-first offense, using the passing game to open up the run.

Re: Are you concerned?
We currently have 3 guys on the roster who can throw downfield with the necessary accuracy. If any one of those 3 learns how to run the offense effectively then defenses will not be able to stack up against the run. The running backs will flourish with that situation.
Dabo and staff have recruited several pocket type QBs with good mobility. They have also recruited thoroughbred WRs who did not come to Clemson to excel at downfield blocking in a run first offense. The staff has all the tools to scheme a balanced offensive game plan. So now comes the big question, are they willing to make the decision that makes all of the above possible? In my opinion the Spring game clarified what Dabo must do in order for this team to achieve the ultimate goal given this is the most deep and talented team he has ever assembled.

Re: Are you concerned?
Concerned about a public practice that was as pure vanilla schemes offensive and defensively with mostly arm tackling............

Re: Are you concerned?
Well considering the run option was less of an option and more of a straight handoff to the RB I'm not concerned. The QB run was pretty much taken out plus splitting the o-line waters down the talent much more so than splitting the d-line especially in game experience.

Re: Are you concerned?
I don't think anyone will have a good running game on our Defense. Especially when you get all of them on the field at the same time. We have and embarrassment of riches on the Offensive side of the ball and the defense is going to be one of the best in the country with the best Dline in the country!

Re: Are you concerned?
Not really, as OL play is more as a 'unit'; so splitting them up takes away most of the 'sync'.
In addition, one of the things that makes our run game work is the threat of the QB running, and that was pretty well taken away by the no contact rule on the QB's.

Pretty much what I thought. The OL was split up and neither unit dominated, but there were some bright spots from individual players. They'll get em coached up and ready to go by September

Re: Are you concerned?
No. QB run was not an option, so there was no way to keep them honest. And what Reynolds said.

Re: Are you concerned?
I agree with Roberts and C-Born. The OL being split up is much more a handicap than our DL being split up. Our DL goes 8-9 deep with guys in the 2nd string being starters and possibly all-conference if playing on another ACC team. That’s the best DL in the country. And not having the QB run as an option, always hurts as well.
I’m not worried. Etienne will have over 1,000 yards this year and Feaster won’t be far behind.
