Default Most disheartening moment in DV

Debbie Downer post. What was the one moment that ripped your heart out

Mine was Aaron Kelly's drop vs BC. Happened right in front of us. If he's a half foot further or the pass is a half foot shorter, we win the Atlantic. If one play epitomized the Bowden era, that was it. So close and yet so far away.

yeah that one was pretty crushing.

At the time, the 98 yard pass Weinke threw in Bowden Bowl 2 was bad too. Clemson came in ranked #10. Then the rest of the game happened and that one play only became the start of a nightmare losing 54-7. So the disheartening thing was the fact we were nowhere near as good and we thought.

When Winston and fsu came and smacked us around. I still waiting for payback. And not just a win but a beat down.

Yeah no idea why I didn't mention that one. There was so much hype, the atmosphere was incredible. The tailgate, the walk to the stadium, it was as electric as I've seen it. Then after the first snap, the life was sucked out of the stadium and our season.. lol.

I had completely blocked that game out until I read this. Earliest i've ever left a Clemson game. We left after the 1st series of the 2nd half.

That opening fumble killed the whole atmosphere.

I still can’t watch that play! Get sick feeling. Getting better now that we’re winning!

It was, but I have a hard time thinking bad about that day. Because I made an error when requesting days off on the schedule a few weeks before I missed my first Clemson home game in over a decade. I got off work late in the first half and my then girlfriend wanted to do something. I wasn't missing any of the game I could realistically watch so she came over and watched the rest of the game with me despite the fact she didn't like college football (she was from Wisconsin and in the 1980's they didn't really do college football.) Despite this she knew when the punt-rooskie happened it wasn't good and I heard the first curse word she ever issued in my presence and I knew she was a keeper. Next month we'll be married 29 years and despite possessing two degrees from cootville she bleeds orange.

Losing to the dirt eaters in 2010 was it for me. That Clemson team just flat out quit.

Coach should pull out a tape of that disaster the week of the game this year along with all of the 5 bomb pictures.

2004 vs.Georgia Tech. I still have nightmares about the ball going over the punter's head.

One play I remember was during the 1977 Notre Dame game. I forget the down but the Irish got backed up and had something like 35 yards to go for first down when they threw a screen pass to get the first down. The receiver was hardly touched. It broke the Tigers hearts - and mine. Stinkin Dan Devine...Clemson had them beat !

This is mine too. Everyone in the student section just stood there for a long time after that game. I've never been more defeated while inside DV

At the time, Pitt in 2016. Little did I know that half of the top 10 would lose, and it wouldn't matter.

This. It's tough being a spectator sometimes, knowing there is nothing more you can do to help the team when they need it most. Then, standing on the sideline wondering what to do next... We hadn't lost in DV in a while and so we didn't know what comes after a loss.

Me too. My wife and I just stood there after the game for what felt like hours.

The same BC game, but seeing the wide open BC receiver in the endzone with under 2 minutes to play. That was the knife in the gut--the Aaron Kelly drop was the the twisting of said knife...
