Default Swinney Camp Notebook: Session 2, Day 2 (afternoon workout)

The second day of the Dabo Swinney Camp's second session continued with another workout Wednesday afternoon. TCI was again on hand to watch part of the workout.

Here's some news and notes from what we observed:

-- We mentioned in our morning workout notebook today that big-time 2020 quarterback Luke Doty of Myrtle Beach (S.C.) competed.

The afternoon workout featured a few other noteworthy signal-callers: Cartersville (Ga.) 2020 Tee Webb, Simpsonville (S.C.) Southside Christian 2020 JW Hertzberg and Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian 2021 Brock Vandagriff.

Webb (6-3, 170) is Trevor Lawrence's successor at quarterback for Cartersville. Despite having sat behind Lawrence, the rising junior has Power Five offers from Kansas State, Louisville and Rutgers.

Like Webb, Hertzberg (6-3, 200) looked good throwing the ball from what we saw. He passed for 2,153 yards and 23 touchdowns as a sophomore last season.

Last but not least, Vandagriff (6-2, 185) is just a rising sophomore but already owns offers from Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Vandagriff is coached by his father, Greg, at Prince Avenue Christian. Greg and his wife were at the practice fields to watch Brock compete, and Clemson quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter spent time chatting with them before the workout.

-- Speaking of the aforementioned Doty, TCI spoke with him earlier today. Doty feels an offer from Clemson will come at some point. He said the Tigers are telling him to keep working and stay patient.

Doty picked up an offer from Florida State over the weekend. He has also collected offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Miami, Virginia Tech and several others this year.

-- One receiver working out at the camp who passes the eyeball test with flying colors is Dorchester (S.C.) Woodland 2020 Lavel Davis. The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder received an offer from Georgia Tech earlier this month.

-- A couple of other notable receivers that worked out were Highland Springs (Va.) 2019 Ali Jennings and Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork 2020 Jalin Hyatt.

Jennings is the brother of Clemson defensive back K'Von Wallace. He added offers from a number of schools this spring including North Carolina, West Virginia and Michigan State. Hyatt has offers from Virginia Tech and Duke.

-- One of several standout offensive linemen that worked out today was Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman 2019 tackle John Gelotte, who is under evaluation by Clemson for a potential offer. North Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, West Virginia, Virginia and Syracuse offered the 6-foot-6, 280-pounder this spring.

-- Seattle (Wash.) Garfield 2020 five-star linebacker Sav'ell Smalls (6-3, 227) arrived to the workout in a golf cart driven by Clemson defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall. Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Stanford and Southern Cal are just some of the schools that have offered him.

-- We've mentioned a couple of times that Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County 2020 four-star linebacker Sergio Allen is participating in today's camp workouts. Allen, who has a Clemson offer, was paid a lot of attention by Brent Venables during drills. At one point, Venables had Allen do a rep of a different drill than everyone else in the group.

-- Also working out with the linebackers was Woodbridge (Va.) 2020 four-star Antoine Sampah and Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy 2020 Devyn Curtis.

Curtis has offers from South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Sampah lists offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State.

-- Among the defensive linemen working out was a Clemson legacy, 2019 prospect Jacob Drag of Chapin (S.C.). He is the son of former Tiger defensive lineman Mark Drag.

-- River Rouge (Mich.) 2019 defensive end Ruke Orhorhoro arrived to Clemson today for a visit. We did not see him at the afternoon workout, but we know he was with Venables before the workout.

Orhorhoro recently named Clemson, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan his top four schools. He made an official visit to Kentucky this past weekend and will travel to Indiana for another official visit this weekend.

The native of Nigeria made the trip with a couple of coaches as well as a teammate in 2019 offensive guard Dontrell Walker.

-- Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco five-star quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei also arrived to campus for a visit at around 4 p.m. today.

Uiagalelei, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the 2020 class, visited Alabama earlier this week and picked up an offer from Georgia during a visit there today.

He does not yet have an offer from Clemson but holds offers from Southern Cal, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA and others.

Uiagalelei is teammates at St. John Bosco with 2019 linebacker Spencer Lytle, who visited Clemson this week as well.

Stay with TCI for continued coverage of the Swinney Camp, which concludes tomorrow morning.
