Default If Dabo stays at Clemson long enough

do you think he can build Clemson into the national power that Alabama is right now? Do you think Clemson can win multiple national titles in a 10-year span?

Yes and yes. If we make it to the playoffs in a rebuilding year, we should be able to make it to the top a few times.

So in your "multiple championships in 10 years" scenario, we just finished year 2 (at the latest). Here is where we stand in my mind:
  • We made the playoff in a year that was dubbed as our rebuilding year. That's pretty freakin good.
  • We have, in my opinion at least, the best recruiting class we've ever had about to be wrapped up.
  • There's a chance we could return most, if not all, of our best players for next year. After the mass exodus of the two years prior, that would be a pretty big win.
  • Clemson is a national brand now. Everyone who pays even a minimal amount of attention to college football knows Clemson, knows our coach's name, and knows that the paw is. This is showing in recruiting where guys from California and Texas are starting to show interest in Clemson.

Do I think Dabo can get us there? In short, hell yes.

Once Saban retires the era of Dabo will begin in my opinion. Whether that is here or at Alabama remains to be seen. However, to answer your question-Yes if he stays, Clemson will become the standard in college football and we will win multiple CFB Playoffs.

Why all of the “if Dabo stays” and “if Saban retires” posts from you and Robert lately? If something coming down the pipe that y’all know about?

Naw, they're just stirring the pot with their opinion of Dabo's loyalties. It's fair game, but I maintain that Dabo will "bloom where he's planted" for years to come! The words he spoke to the Board of Trustees still resonate with me...

...Then, the interim coach made a statement that deserves a permanent place in Clemson lore.

"You know what?" Swinney told the group. "That's not my vision for Clemson at all. My vision is for this school and this school and this school to want to be like Clemson.

"I want to become the model."...

By doggy, he's done it!!! I thought he was looney tunes at the time, never felt better about being wrong!

Wasn't it something like...
"I want them all to aspire to be like Clemson. I don't want to follow anybody, let's make Clemson the standard everyone else is chasing."

To answer the OT question, we are already there.
Nobody expected us to win our own conference, aside from a scant few "dreamers" that couldn't be pragmatic about the coming season.

I called 11-1 for the year. Forgive me for not leafing back thru 176 pages to find the link for season predictions. I thought Frenchy at FSU had a golden horseshoe in his jock the entire year not getting hurt the previous season. I did expect him to get hurt this past year given the porosity of his swiss cheese O-line, but thought he would get out of the FIRST game.

The system is in place now. Dabo used to have to sell recruits like JD and CJ on the hope of winning... and that worked

Now he sells recruit's parents on the tradition of training their sons to be young men first, and football players second. Oh yeah, we are the only team to beat Bama in a national championship game in this century.

So yes, we are there Willy V. The mansion across the street from Bammer's house on Champion's Way... we closed on it last year. We lost a Sugar Bowl in the CFP to Bama on a DOWN YEAR

I'll take that anytime we don't win it all

Not likely. In the modern era no one has won multiple national titles over a 10year period except Saban. It is very difficult to do plus most coaches don’t coach long enough in one place to achieve this feat.

One more thought, I could see Dabo going into politics or becoming an AD as equally likely options to him leaving to coach Bama

I like our chances but I don’t think anyone will repeat what Bama did. I’d be happy just having Dabo win 3 NT here.

Just look at the run Bowden had at FSU in the 90s. He had them in the top five for almost the entire decade but only won two nattys

Haha Bowden with his band of renegade convicts! Dabo has a team full of character and talent! You can't compare that to the criminoles, even Jimbo let them run wild, see where that got him, don't ya?

Saban has done it through recruiting, and so is Dabo, along with great assistant coaches to coach them up.

We'll be in it or win it over the next 5 years.
