Default How much will loss of Brooks and Hobby hurt

Clemson lost two great coaches from last season. Most assume things will just roll along the same. How much will it hurt the team this year?

Not very much this year. Current players have the fundamentals instilled by Brooks and Hobby. Coach Bates can't screw that up, plus I trust Dabo and Brent have found the right guy to take over. I'll venture a prediction that in fact line play may improve over next couple years due to the influx of talent and an energetic young coach.

I agree. Will not be a huge affect if any this season but time will tell as far as Bates go. On the other side....It was easier for Elliott, Scott, and Streeter to call plays with Deshaun.....let's see how they do without him.

But my feeling is all will be good!

Brooks was the best in the business so there will naturally be some effect. What lessens my concern is the story Dabo told about Brooks pointing out Bates at camp a few years back. If he stood out to Brooks as a good coach it means something.

They just need to convince him to coach the games with his hat turned around backwards!

Given the returning talent, depth, and what's on deck...probably not a whole lot. Both those guys were great, but Swinney and Venables are still there....we're fine. And everything I've seen and read about Bates indicates he was a good choice...can't wait to him coach these guys.
