Default New NCAA rule

The NCAA released new rules that allows players to play up to 4 games and still redshirt. Also changed the rule for transfers so that the player notifies the school they plan to transfer but doesn’t require permission to do so.

The transfer thing was expected. Not sure I like the redshirt thing - have to see how that works out.

I like the RS rule. Give a bit more flexibility for the players and the coaches. You get to test a kid out and he gets to see some action. If he not ready then hell still have the year. Seems like a fair rule for all. I also like the xfer rule.

I don't like the transfer rule. You shouldn't be allowed to transfer to a school that is scheduled to play the school you're leaving.

I also like the RS rule in that if a position gets thin at the end of the yr, we can bring in a guy that would have sat the whole yr and have them fill in and get good game time experience and help team out.

Really still do not care for transfer rule. No commitment required by young people. And really think permission should be granted to keep things out in the open. Too much of a chance for clandestine meetings. But...with that being said, if schools can pull scholarships, the players should be able to pull out also. Wish solid commitments by both would be mandated to protect both. Maybe that's how we will stand out above the others as apparently is the case right now.

Don't like the new transfer rule but do like the redshirt rule. I think it will help teams like Clemson especially that have great depth.

It will keep the guys not playing focused as they don't know when things might change.

I doubt the transfer rule that passed changes things to much though there will be more tampering. I wonder if the ACC is going to create a rule preventing transfers in conf - the SEC will.

As for the RS rule, Iíd just rather they gave everyone 5 years to play 5 years. The new rule will eliminate the medical redshirt which I like (it seemed to be unevenly applied to me).

There are going to be some interesting decisions for coaches on when to use those four games. They will benefit by holding them for late in the season in many cases.

It will certainly help when there are injuries.
