This question seems like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football being held by Lucy.

From the article, talking about Donte Grantham, "... Not only can he play the wing and can be a productive scorer..."

Umm... whut? Grantham is basically nonexistent out there on offense and always looks timid with the ball in his hands. Not to mention our offensive plays basically consist of setting two screens at the top of the key, passing it over to the wing, and then everyone else just stands around and looks at each other like "Well golly gee, why didn't those 2 screens work and help us get open and score? What do we do now?"

Sorry, just can't say I have a lot of faith in this basketball team

absolutely NOT! They are about as close to get over that hump as Kiffin is to winning his job back at USC. Lets face it. The coaching staff and the game plan is horrible for basketball. Fire BB and his staff and bring in a younger guy that can not only recruit, but has a system that these kids can thrive in.

What's the expected starting five? Mitchell, Reed, Devoe, Grantham, Thomas or Mitchell, Reed, Grantham, Donnal, Thomas?

This ^^^^ all of this. I hope they do well, but I cannot see this team making any in roads towards a championship of any kind or even a winning record in conference. I pray I am wrong but coaching is the failure in this equation.

I realize that the enthusiasm for Clemson basketball is low after coming off yet another season where we didn't make the NCAA Tournament, but objectively speaking we were about as close as you can get to being a really good team. I know it's easy to get discouraged, but we were in all but a couple of games last year until the very end. We had a bunch of games which came down to the last possession and didn't go our way. We took the eventual national champions to multiple overtimes. We played some of the other top teams very close. While the obvious goal is to win the game, I think it is worth acknowledging that we were very close. It's not like we were clearly an inferior team last year. Some of the posts here make it sound like we sucked and weren't even close to being good. That is false.

Our consistent competitiveness last year speaks to Brownell's system and coaching, since we were not as talented as most teams we play in the ACC. Our recruiting class this year is our best one under Brownell, so that is encouraging. The tough thing is that we are up against so many great programs in the ACC.

I don't know what the answer is to getting over the hump. I believe that it will take some changes in coaching as well as in our players' approach to get over the hump, but I believe it can happen. I like what I've heard from Brownell this offseason about some of the changes he is making.

Tommy Bowden just gave you a standing ovation

But seriously, I think what people are saying is you can hope and dream all you want but the time for talk is over. Get out there and show that you are capable of accomplishing something.

Nope and I hope winning a game or two more than last years's awful record is not seen as getting over the hump.
