Default Finebaum on officiating in title game: "I thought the officiating was pretty bad"

From SportsCenter

Paul Finebaum:

"I thought the officiating was pretty bad. This was a Big 12 crew. I was told before the game by officiating people that this is not a good league for officiating. They made a lot of blunders early in the Big 12 season and late in the postseason. This was not the best crew to have on this game."

Finebaum added that he believes most people don't think Hunter Renfrow's game-winning touchdown reception that involved a pick from Artavis Scott was an illegal play.

"Most people don't think this was an illegal play, for a number of reasons, but primarily it was clean," Finebaum said. "Listen, you know me. I would always love to say hey, this is a controversial play that the national championship was decided on. I don't think it was."

I have to agree with him on that. There were a lot of bad no-calls, and DW4's helicopter spin hit was definitely targeting by Reuben Foster. They got the super obvious calls right, but overall it was extremely poor officiating.

The targeting on Williams on our opening drive, the multiple pass interferences on deep throws, the blatant hold on their long touchdown run in the first half.

But hey; we over came and won. That's all that matters!

On College Football Live today he said he thought it was really bad to hear a Saban-coached team's players complaining about the officiating.

Not sure what Bama could complain about. The lack of holds called on them? That the obvious targeting wasn't called

They seem to forget they should have loss two players for targeting.

Foster's clothesline on DW4 and tony brown's targeting hit on Mike's Williams should have both been ejections on the opening drive. It also showed clearly that Bama wanted to hurt and get our guys out of the game. Karma bit them though as it usually does.

I hate to ever agree with Finebaum but the officiating was bad. Certainly not to the level it was supposed to be for such a high profile game. But to the official's credit it wasn't bad to one side....they were equal opportunity in their suckage.

Returned to work today and 2 out of 3 customers of mine have said congratulations but the officials missed a lot of blah blah blah and be glad not to have had ACC officials because they call more offensive pass interference calls than Big 10 officials.

Debated them and have come to the conclusion that I won't do that again, I'm just going to tell them, "That's nice and btw, everyone is invited to the Championship parade on Saturday at Clemson."

I am pretty sure Finebaum also said there were 2 or 3 missed targeting calls committed by Alabama in the first half. He had no sympathy for Alabama.
