Perhaps he does know how the ankle will respond to a week of practice?

ESPN thinks they read between the lines and says Kelly is expected to play: http://www.espn.com/college-football...ersus-syracuse

I think we hold him....just my opinion though. The answers about his status have been too evasive for him just being a "little" banged up.

Swinney did say he expected him to play and also said that on Sunday. However, he came back later in the press conference and said they will have to see how he practices today. That's why I said he was evasive.

I think Kelly Bryant will play unless it risks serious injury. He might not play long. However, Syracuse has put up some points and runs a lot of plays each game, so our offense might need to score more than 28 points. Can Cooper or Johnson lead the team to more than 28 points?

I also believe KB WANTS to play. After seeing Hunter Johnson in action, I believe KB does not want to open the door at all to potentially being replaced should Johnson maintain such a command on the offense.

If I was KB2, this is exactly how I would feel. Lots of players have gotten hurt then lost their job to their backup while they were out. Partially for that reason, I think he plays but with caution to that ankle. He has 2 weeks to heal again before the next game, so what the heck, go play. And, if we're up 3 scores in the first half, he'll sit the second half and HJ and ZC will get their shot to show what they can do.
