I'd guess Ole Dave is working hard on an extension before next year happens
He better get it done before the Clemson game. Last night I rewatched last year's game. 2 TO's inside the 5,Wayne out early, this year with KB2 ,28 & 9,it won't be close. #leavenodoubt.

All the teams from last year who whined all off season that they were “one play away from beating Clemson” have all been embarrassed by the tigers. Louisville was 6” away: VaTech was one score away: State was a missed FG away.

Our best games this season have been against those teams...almost like they are circled.
Well the revenge tour continues when Clemson travels to Raleigh and we punish the pack.

I believe the defense definitely has them circled. Wilkins and others have said they wanted to "leave no doubt" for the Auburn, UL and VT games. I bet we hear the same language for that game and go up there and open up a can on them.

They lose 8 starters on defense to go with Samuels, and a few others on offense. If Finley and Hines declare early...they'll be fighting to play .500 football. I'd hold off on that extension, but what do I know.

I think it is a smart move on the AD's part. Current deal is only til 2019 so recruiting is tough enough without the added distraction of a coach that isn't under contract for at least 4 years.

By announcing that they are "working on an extension" that gives some help without really committing the school to Dave. Allows him to at least tell recruits it is in progress. And the school can still not execute the extension if the season doesn't end well.

Or maybe, I'm just too cynical and it will be completed before we play them.

This is a good assessment of the deal IMO

I surely would like us to beat Syracuse before we leave no doubt against anyone else.

Yep I don't think it's bad to extend it also. They beat ND last year, had a close one against FSU and us, and it always helps beating UNC. This year they are 5 & 1 with wins over FSU and Lville. They have a legit shot at a 9 & 3 reg record and finish 2nd in the division to the Nat'l champs. They had one good yr with Chuck "the chest" Amato so I don't think they can expect to do that great. Now I wouldn't give him a ton of $ but keeping him around right now shows some stability in the program. But I still don't like the guy.
