I like the playoff right where it's at. Too big of a playoff waters down the regular season imo.

Yea...just what we all want to see...more beatdowns. There's not enough parity at the top for more than a couple teams to survive. You only get 85 scholly's and would need to lengthen the schedule.

I like 4...just win your games and the problem is solved.

If it had to change, I would argue that it shouldn't go to more than 6 teams. Each Power 5 conference champion gets in, plus 1 voted-in team. Let the top 2 ranked teams have a bye.

Did any undefeated Power 5 Conference teams miss the playoffs?

I like what hes sayin.
It's not just picking the best team it's the team that wins the tnmt. I'm for more to have pwr 5 champs plus 1 or 3. No conf can get more than 2 ever. Use more bowls and maybe the McCafferys and others won't opt out too.

If there was a change this is one I could get behind. The top 2 teams shouldn't have to play more games just to let more teams in that prbly dont belong with the real contenders anyways.

The last thing we need is byes. Let 8 teams in, give the AAC a shot and make the 4 smaller conferences have a playoff championship weekend. Only champions get in and everyone in college football has a chance.

How many times does the best team win the NCAAT? Very rarely. It's the team that has the best draw and gets hot. That is not the best way to determine a champion. The regular season should mean something. That's why OSU going down was huge. It actually affects who wins a title.

I don't necessarily agree with him, but I love his candor and delivery. He's the Krusty Krab

Go to 8 teams. Each power 5 champion gets in.

3 at large.

Do away with power 5 teams playing anyone outside the power 5.

That was absolutely hilarious. And I somewhat agree with him. I just don't think it can expand to 64 teams or something. If so, the championship would be in March. Now, I would LOVE for football to last 8 or 9 months, but cmon, that's not reasonable.

I do believe the 4-team playoff has been great. It's way better than the BCS. The BCS became such a popularity contest with pretend measurables. How many titles would Bama and the SEC win if there was a playoff 15 years ago? I'm guessing about half as many as they have now, during that time span.

But, now, I think it's time to expand the playoff to 8 teams, maybe 10 with the top 2 having a bye for the first round. This way, all 5 power 5 champs get in automatically and then 3-5 at-large get in, with one being a non-power 5 school, to shut those folks up (I don't think they'd compete, but who knows). Maybe go to 6 for 4-5 years and see how that goes. It just seems like 4 isn't quite enough some years.

If you really want a bigger playoff then do the following:

Create eight divisions of ten teams each balanced by geography and program strength (the current conference alignment makes no sense for a playoff)

Play every team in your division (round robin format). The other three games can be against anyone and do not count against winning your division)

The eight division winners play in the round of eight

One TV contract for all teams which would be huge.

Two cable channels plus pay for streaming options for all games

This would create a fairer playing field for all teams

I love the idea. Imagine that tournament with 64 teams? Every game people would be flocking to watch b/c it was do or die. That's 63 games of awesome sauce. WAY more than we have now. 32 would be easy to do. Plus, you could schedule whomever you wanted with your OOC b/c if you can't make top 64 or 32 then you suck anyway. You could drop back to 10 or 11 regular season games depending on if you had a conference championship to make it basically the same amount of games played as it is now.

It would also help with keeping kids from sitting out their bowl games to prevent injury. Nobody would sit out a game that mattered if they still had a chance at a championship.

4 conferences, each made up of 2 divisions.

Conference championship serves as the defacto first round of the playoff.

Then you end up with a final four with no extra games...
