That's the one I remember the most.

#1 easily the clip they posted from gameday vs gt. I remember being about 5 rows from the field in the student section too. best seats I had while in college.
#2 would have to be CJ's last home game when the crowd was chanting "CJ" "Spiller" back and forth in the stands, still gives me chills |

I was on the 50-yard-line, 3rd row for this one. My wife won wife-of-the-year that year :D

Yes hard not to say breaking the ankles of Hall and going 50 versus Ga Tech.
81K Chanting his name was goose bump worthy. And how bout the kick off return at Maryland. Lost his shoe and still went to the house in blazing top speed with his faithful escort Ford. |

This one for sure. The second is the kickoff return at the end of the first half against Miami down there. "I can tell you what, Randy Shannon is not going to keep it deep to that young man, Spiller. Well...there he goes..."
Beautiful return. |

I think most are in agreement on the GT play. I remember there was a lot of talk about how good Spiller was and was going to be. The play cemented it in everyone's mind of how good he actually was.

Still my all time favorite player.
I use to love when we ran the wheel route to CJ out of the backfield |
Re: Name a Spiller play that lives in your head rent-free?
Obviously that play. There were many other amazing and great plays, but that one stands out like no other...:eek::eek:

On a disappointing note, can you imagine just how productive he would have been if we had an offensive line that could consistently block for him? Some of his most spectacular plays were the result of the O-line not doing their job.

Re: Name a Spiller play that lives in your head rent-free?
I was standing right behind the band, eyeballing that sideline.
On the first juke, there was an audible "Oh" for the move. On the second juke, the volume of the "OH" doubled. And then the roar began to build, because everyone could see there was nobody between CJ and the goal line. I have to believe the people chasing him just gave up. The volume got louder with every step down that North sideline toward the lake. |
Re: Name a Spiller play that lives in your head rent-free?
That play will always represent CJ to me. Those defenders probably wake in a sweat having flashbacks from the abuse he put on them.
But I also remember on the occasion where the oline gave him a crease, it would look as if he were shot out of a cannon as he passed the line and lbs. No one could touch him. |
Re: Name a Spiller play that lives in your head rent-free?
Spiller and Barry Sanders are the two players that have the juke plays etched in my memory. Ironically they both have plays where they faked themselves out of their own cleats and then kept running to paydirt.
Now days the juke has been replaced by the hurdle. It is nice to see the stiff arm to the defenders fask mask making a comeback. Now they need to bring back the big leap over the line into the endzone. I suppose that can’t happen until the I formation comes back into vogue. Billy Simms was awesome at that. |
Re: Name a Spiller play that lives in your head rent-free?
The one that comes to mind for me is his 82-yard touchdown on a screen play at BC in 2006. I believe that was his first touchdown of his career. It was an amazing play.
