Thursday morning recruiting notes

***It was another busy day in Florida for co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott, who started his day at 6:30 with a visit to Bishop Catholic in Orlando to see Parker Boudreaux work out.

***Scott later handed out an offer to Juwan Burgess, a 2017 four-star athlete from Tampa-Plant.

As a sophomore at Blake, Burgess was used in a variety of ways, which you'll see in his sophomore highlights: LINK

Burgess told TCI on Wednesday night that Clemson offered him when he was a freshman, but that was as a defensive back. On Wednesday, he said, the offer was to play wide receiver.

The 6-foot-1, 183-pound prospect also listed Clemson as his leader, even though he's never been to Tigertown. In fact, the only college visit he's been on was to Miami last fall for the Florida State game.

In our estimation, Burgess has the look of an elite prospect for either side of the ball. We'll have more from him later today.

***Scott also offered 2018 running back Lorenzo Lingard, a 6-1, 185-pound prospect from the University School in Orange City. Florida, Florida State and Georgia have also offered.

Lingard's freshman highlights: LINK

***On Wednesday night, TCI confirmed with Laurinberg-Scotland (NC) head coach Richard Bailey that Clemson offered 2018 running back Zamir White. A Clemson coach will be by the school next week.

The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect with offers from Florida State, Georgia, UNC, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

***2018 quarterback Joey Gatewood also picked up an offer from Clemson on Wednesday.

The big three in Florida have offered, so have Louisville, South Carolina and UCLA. When the Clemson offer went out, the Jacksonville-Bartram Trail prospect had almost 13,000 views on his hudl highlights...he's going to be one of the best, if not the best 2018 QB.

***2016 wide receiver Diondre Overton is expecting Scott to visit him at Greensboro-Page on Thursday.

***2016 defensive tackle Nyles Pinckney will be seen by co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott at Whale Branch on Thursday.

***Since he was right up the road from Fort Dorchester on Tuesday, Elliott also went by Summerville on Tuesday. There, he checked on 2017 wide receiver Cam Burnette, who we visited with on Monday afternoon for an on location interview.

Appalachian State and Penn State evaluated Burnette on Wednesday.

***Ryan Jones, an offered 2017 wide receiver from Charlotte-Ardrey Kell, believes Scott and tight ends coach Danny Pearman will stop by early next week.

Michigan, N.C State and Virginia Tech have already visited.

***William Poole, an offered 2017 cornerback from Hapeville High School in Atlanta, told TCI on Wednesday night that he's expecting to see Clemson at some point during the first two weeks of May.

***TCI will head up past the South Carolina-North Carolina border to Shelby on Thursday afternoon. We'll meet with 2017 Crest linebacker Justin Foster and 2018 Shelby linebacker Dax Hollifield for a couple of on location interviews.

***Boston College offered 2019 ATH Owen Pappoe, a 6-1, 190-pound prospect who will attend Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia this fall. The Eagles are the first to offer.

Clemson is already sending mail. Pappoe posted this picture on Twitter earlier this week:

I agree...love to hear the horse's mouth. So much speculation out there.

Appreciate the kind words, guys.

We've got several more spots we're looking to hit, so they're going to keep them coming your way.

Thank you. Gatewood is a big freshman and has a nice touch as well as accuracy. It will seem like forever before he plays at Clemson. Hahaha

Does anyone know the status of Rashan Gary? Apparently 247sports did an interview on his recruitment, but its for VIP members only.

Hand written addressing. I like that added touch.

Should we expect much more action on new offers for 2016 class at this point? I just wonder if the coaches feel they need any extra insurance for a position on top of offers already out.

Even if I hadn't worked for five years for a site that was subscription-based, I wouldn't copy and paste what was included in that story.

But I will say this: His comments about Clemson were in line with what his mother told us after they visited earlier this spring.
