Garrett Williams dad on Dabo Swinney
I just got off the phone with Garrett Williams father, Dayne, and he said something about Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney that I felt needed to be relayed to you guys.
At the end of the interview, just as we were about to get off the phone, he asked me to include this comment in the story I'm writing.
Of course, as you guys know, Dayne played at Florida State for head coach Bobby Bowden in the mid-to-late 1980s.
"Dabo Swinney and the staff he is putting together. He is a young Bobby Bowden. That is how much respect that I have for that man. The way he relates to my wife, the kids, the whole environment and the way that he looks at life is almost identical to Coach Bowden.
"Coach Bowden, after my father, had more influence on my life as a male than anybody else. When you have been around this sport as long as I have and you have seen great coaches and not so good good coaches, and you get around the Dabo Swinneys, they turn your head and they leave an impression that I wanted my son to be around. Obviously, he was drawn to that as well."
