Deon Cain note
Just wanted to get out in front of this before it gets too big on here.
Mike Farrell of Rivals.com tweeted earlier this afternoon that he heard Deon Cain would be taking an official visit to LSU this weekend.
I've talked to a couple of different sources that have both indicated that may not be true.
One source close to Cain told me that the kicker at his high school, Tampa Tech, is looking to walk-on at LSU. To help try to make that happen, the kicker's father is hoping Cain goes along on the trip. That source also indicated that Cain would "definitely" not be an official visitor, if he goes at all.
A second source, one that's close to folks in Baton Rouge, indicated the same thing, as it pertains to the type of visit it would be. The source also believes it would be an unofficial one. This source also downplayed the nature of the trip, saying that Cain probably just wants to see a good game.

Re: Deon Cain note
Thx. Cain and Watson will be have a chance to be better than Sammy and Boyd.

I wonder if the kicker's Father is a LSU fan trying to recruit Dion. I'm just not sure why Dion visiting LSU would help the kicker walk on.

Maybe Deon can help somehow to get him a preferred status. After all, we've taken recruits in the hopes of getting their teammate before, too.

Re: Deon Cain note
How 'bout we put a positive spin on something for once? Carl Lawson anyone? Remember when he was committed to Auburn but made a late visit here while Montravius Adams was in town?
Gonna be lots of top prospects at this LSU-Bama game, including an elite receiver who might be leaning Clemson's way- Tyron Johnson. This is an opportunity for Deon to do some recruiting for Clemson and for his future teammates. He knows he has a chance to be a part of what might become an epic offensive group, one that could be remembered for a very long time and not just here at Clemson. Helping land Tyron would go a long way to ensuring this, plus it'd be in Deon's best interest to have an elite WR like Tyron opposite him to prevent coverage from consistently rolling his way.

I know that Tyron Johnson named Clemson his leader at one point. I haven't heard anyone mention us as having a realistic chance of landing him though.

Re: Deon Cain note
For Johnson I thought it was more about our interest and spots for him and less his interst. In the next class we've got Cain, McCloud, and Bell. All very good. Do we need to use a scholarship for a fourth?

We did lose Priester and who knows about Peake's ability to stay healthy. Hopper may be one mistake away from moving on as well.

Did Deon end up going?? If he did he was able to see a very sloppy but entertaining game.. Just hope that he didn't get swayed at all cause it looked like LSU fans were pretty intense tonight.. Nothing like the REAL Death Valley tho!! Him and R2M3 will be game changers for our offense!!

I don't see Hopper being anywhere close to moving on. Yes, he's made some mistakes, but he also has made a number of huge plays. He's got to develop, but he's not a total screw up. Has he made more mistakes than Bryant did early in his career for example?
We have Scott and Kitt already proving their abilities. Trevion Thompson is a star ready for his chance. And with 3 very highly rated guys already in this next class, I'm pretty sure the coaches don't want to put another scholarship on that position, but somewhere else instead. 2016 they may go after another 3 again, too.
Somewhere earlier in this forum it was noted that we were full in that position I thought, also.

According to others, he was able to meet one of his favorite nfl WRs and now LSU is a major player. Does anyone know if he'll be back on campus so we can remind him why he committed.

Not doubting you but i saw on another board something about him meeting Dwayne Bowe but no link. Not sure how Dwayne Bowe could have been in Baton Rouge last night and then catch 8 balls in Buffalo this afternoon?

I was just thinking of reasons why we may need to add another WR in this class. Hopper has already been suspended twice. I hope that he never gives Dabo a reason to be suspended again or dismissed. He just can't afford another slip up where others may.

Who would have Dwayne Bowe as one of their favorite WR's anyway?
