Re: Swinney makes changes to coaching staff
I like it too. Said Pearman's role will "also include transfer portal evaluations". I knew Dabo would evaluate every angle that can be a competitive advantage. Glad to see all this, especially for CJ.

It's like he has someone reading posts here...
Now, just wait for the obligatory Coach Caldwell post... it's coming.

Re: Swinney makes changes to coaching staff
I read another report that there may be additional staff changes to be disclosed next week. Maybe coaching shifts on defensive side?

Not sure but we can always expect Dabo’s competitive nature will prevail

How do you know CJ will be a better RB coach?

How do we know any ex player will be a good coach? We, posters on a message board, don’t. I didn’t see why TE was hired and made RB coach when he came on board. But that worked out pretty well I think. Why would CJ not be a good coach?

It’s important to follow the thread. AS stated CJ was a better RB coach than TE. I never said CJ would not be a good RB coach but how does AS know CJ will be better than TE? CJ has zero experience, never recruited a single player and never managed a RB room. So CJ may be a great coach but we simply don’t know at this point.

I don't. I'm assuming, particularly because Eliott was not a good evaluator and Spiller played 8 years in the league under several coaching staffs. I'm assuming he picked up a few things on the way

It’s important to read my response. I said that we don’t know if CJ will be a better coach, just like we didn’t know if TE would be a good RB coach. Heck CJ has more experience as a running back that TE did when he started coaching them. My point is you have no reason to think that CJ won’t be a good coach. Obviously Dabo thinks he will be a good one or he wouldn’t have entrusted him with the responsibility.

Re: Swinney makes changes to coaching staff
Coach Swinney has proven he is an excellent evaluator of talent and ability. He has had ample opportunity to observe and evaluate CJ interact and assist coaching players over the last several years. I think Dabo knows what he is doing and CJ will be an excellent coach and motivator. This is similar to the hiring of TE and was not a "blind" decision on Dabo's part.

Just an Opinion, Grad Assistants usually go elsewhere when their time here is done,to learn more, get better at coaching and hopefully return one day, Dabo chose to go ahead and hire CJ.
A former 5 Star College HOFer Clemson grad is gotta kick RB recCuiting up a tick ? Shouldn't it ?

We have the exact same amount of reasons to think CJ will be a good coach as we do thinking he will not be a good coach or better/worse than TE. There are simply no data points on his coaching ability given he has never been a coach. We know he is a great person, strong work ethic, great player and Is well respected but sometimes those things don’t translate as a coach.
As for CTE’s talent evaluation skills he seems to have done a nice job. It is easy to use hindsight to point at specific players missed but we don’t know the whole story. Perhaps the example player had other issues or wanted more than a scholarship to sign?
