Don't understand that one. Now is his chance to come on. He was growing into his role nicely I thought.

Another vote of no confidence in Brownell from players who have actually played for him. Hey donors, notice the pattern yet after 13 years? 🙄

you honestly can't let a thread go by without trying to take a shot at Brownell can you?

I guess we will have a vote. Everyone that leaves votes No against Brownell. Everyone that stays votes Yes for Brownell. All signees will also be a vote of Yes for Brownell. Neff has already voted Yes for Brownell. Looks like you are trailing, but there is still time. Just keep the pot shots coming because we all love to read those over and over as they never get old.

To be honest, I thought Beadle was the best bet to transfer. We didn’t know much of anything about Gibson, so can’t really comment about his decision. Middlebrooks on the other hand seemed to improving and with 2 yrs at Clemson figured to get a bigger role next year.

I know. It is my PTSD from the late year implosion. I should be used to it by now just like you should be used to my constantly pointing out the insanity of paying millions just to be mediocre.

Don't bother with attempting to debate. Dissenting voices will be silenced.

We won 23 games and finished third in the ACC. That’s not mediocre and I’m tired of our “fans” saying it is.

Actually not the case at all. I have some background on this transfer. I was told of it a few days ago.

The reason behind this transfer if he took a step forward and wants more PT. The reason he won't get more here at Clemson next season is because PJ will be back. In my book that is great news for Clemson basketball.

I will also add as I hinted before on TCI that if Brownell was not back PJ would not be coming back. PJ hasn't announced anything and will go through the process with the NBA but from what I have been told he will be back next season.

So there is very good news for Clemson basketball in this situation!

Middlebrooks has improved due to good coaching and hard work, and he wants a bigger role. That doesn't seem likely next year with PJ Hall back and Ian Schieffelin poised to make another jump in development.

Middlebrooks has a lot to offer a team, and doesn't want to play backup at Clemson, so he's transferring. Makes total sense.

I'm sorry he's leaving, and I like him a lot, but it makes sense for him and his future. He's a good guy and a great teammate, and I wish him the best.

I'm excited about Godfrey's development, as well as Wiggins. Both have huge potential.

Love the potential of Wiggins and Godfrey but Middlebrook’s contribution is different than what is expected of those two as they develop offensively. I completely get the thinking with PJ returning. However, I still wonder if Godfrey and Wiggins take more minutes from Schieffelin as they become more reliable scorers. Ian is another great effort player but simply plays too small to be someone to rely on inside. I would think Brownell will need to atleast find a taller forward whose athletic enough to contribute on the boards similar to what Tyson did this year. We weren’t the best rebounding team this year, but Tyson and Middlebrooks were the bright spots. Hopefully the portal has that rebounding piece available.

Let’s hope PJ stays injury free b/c the backup and starter to be his replacement is gone. Glad PJ may stay. That is good news.

If Middlebrook's replacement isn't as good... it's not good news from the overall team aspect.

Certainly easier to replace what Middlebrook's gives Clemson than what PJ does. Don't think there should be any debate there. I'll also add if PJ left Clemson wasn't going to be able to bring someone in or elevate anyone on the roster to give what he can give the Tigers.

Considering that PJ likely needs to expand his outside game a bit to get NBA consideration, wonder if there was any discussion of trying a bigger lineup some next year, with PJ basically sliding into Tyson’s spot and Middlebrook taking more of the inside role, playing both at the same time on occasion? We’d still need another big man from the portal either way for backup.

Did you miss point about Middlebrooks leaving via the portal? Understandable considering how quickly the reason for this thread turned into a Brownell debate.

44% of all college basketball players transfer so it seems players have a low confidence in all coaches. I have another comment but will let-it-go

Middlebrooks averaged 3.1 pts and 2.7 rebounds. I would think that production will easily be made up by Godfrey and Wiggins.
