Covering tomorrow's State Championship games
I'll be at Williams-Brice tomorrow for two State Championship games on Saturday.
The AAAA-II game between Spartanburg and York features 2016 running back Tavien Feaster and 2017 ATH Wally Wilmore.
You know all about Feaster by now, the best prospect in the state, regardless of age. But Wilmore, who visited for the Georgia State game, is starting to make a name for himself. We've been in contact with York head coach Bobby Carroll, who coached plenty of really good players during his time at South Pointe. Carroll said Wilmore (6-1, 160) reminds him of Stephone Gilmore.
That game starts at 12.
At 3 in the AAA title game, Hartsville and South Pointe will square off. That game features 2016 LB Datavious Wilson, a visitor for last weekend's South Carolina game. The Hartsville junior has an offer from Appalachian State. He also leads Hartsville with 140 tackles.
Another prospect we'll have an eye on is 2018 prospect Derion Kendrick (5-11, 170), an athlete who's been very productive since he was called up to varsity late in the season. South Pointe also has 2017 ATH Nick McCloud, who's got an offer from Appalachian State. The 6-2, 165-pound prospect has played mostly wide receiver this season.
That game starts at 3.
Hillcrest and Dutch Fork will cap the day's games at 6.
The Clemson coaching staff is expected to have a heavy presence at the game, so you can be sure that Feaster and the rest of the prospects playing tomorrow will know they're there.
We'll have plenty of coverage from Columbia on Saturday and on through the rest of the weekend.
