Default The new normal for injuries?

Asked earlier this week about the status of NC State's injured players ahead of Saturday's game, Dave Doeren declined to talk about it at all.

That's pretty much the same stance Dabo Swinney is starting to take as well. Swinney said after Wednesday's practice that Clemson will release its availability report on game day and kept it at that, which has essentially been his answer to questions about injuries the last few weeks.

Unlike the NFL, college teams aren't required to release information on injuries/participation throughout the week. You can debate all day how much it really matters in the grand scheme of things -- frankly, I think it's largely paranoia -- but I think this is going to become more of the norm for college programs.

I think it's smart as why give your opponents any info that they can use. Wondering if NFL does that to keep gambling a little more honest? Although now college is the same way.

In some cases (i.e. a quarterback dealing with an injury), sure. But coaches are a paranoid group in general and often take it to unnecessary extremes in my opinion.

I don't think the other team knowing whether or not a backup lineman is going to play is going to determine the outcome.

All's fair in love, war and college football. Seems net sum zero if neither side knows.

What is the over/under on number of weeks the question is asked going forward with the same answer before media stops asking?

I'll say 5.5

Dabo has gone back and forth in the past with how much he releases. He's had time where he wouldn't say anything and others where he would share a lot.

We'll see how long this lasts this time.
