Default Swinney clarifies his rant on Lawrence's injury on First Take

From ESPN's First Take

Swinney was asked to elaborate on his comments after Wednesday practice

"First of all we shouldn't have reporters asking our players private medical stuff that we haven't put out there or released. So that is what happened so this speculation gets out there because well maybe he hasn't met other people's expectations but he has met our expectations. He has played great. He has run great. He has made some huge plays extending plays, big scrambles, big throws. Our third down percentage is higher than it was after five games last year and we are throwing for more yards after five games than last year. People have this, they like to build people up and tear them down. There was this underlying them that oh my god there is something wrong with him and they are keeping it a secret. I'm like where is this coming from. It started with a question that should not have been asked. When a guy is hurt we tell them. There is nothing wrong with him. People wanted to create something."

Default Re: Swinney clarifies his rant on Lawrence's injury on First Take

Right on cue ESPN jumps in to stoke a perceived controversy. I expect that will continue tomorrow morning on Gameday. No real story here, but they want drama because Swinney said thereís no drama.

As someone else observed, if Swinney desired to redirect the media away from the team, then they bit and itís mission accomplished.
