Good news - Fields Decommits
Mark Fields has decommitted from South Carolina.
The Tigers are very much in the mix here. We don't have confirmation yet, but don't be surprised to see Fields take an official visit to Clemson in January.

5 of the 247sports experts have already changed their predictions to Clemson.

Well that makes #6 for them so far! They said the number 6 was going to be important to them this year!

Re: Good news - Fields Decommits
Hearing that he'll be in town the weekend of the 16th in January, the same dates Clemson's commits (what's left of them from the early enrollees), will be in town on official visit.
Don't want to put the cart before the horse, but Clemson has a lot of momentum and I would expect it to remain this way. There are a few reasons to start feeling good about what's happening here.

Re: Good news - Fields Decommits
Also, his high school teammate Van Smith is a longtime Clemson commit. The thought of having Fields and Alexander playing opposite of each other either next season or the one after that is scary.

That'll be huge if we can place him after losing the kid from MD.

Is anyone else concerned that he is taking a visit to South Carolina after our OV?

Not really becuase once he visits the Clemson campus; there may not be a visit to USuC. And if there is, he will clearly see the difference.

Just keeping his options open. He decommitted from USuC with the intention of going elsewhere. Just in case he needs the UsuC visit ,he scheduled one. Too many recruiting experts think he's Clemson's to lose now.

He could wait until NSD. Clemson of course will be trying to close the deal on his official visit. They have some others they are looking at so would like to know as soon as they can.

Re: Good news - Fields Decommits
Has he decided firmly whether he will make a visit or official visit to Texas?
A lot of Gamecocks think the newest Spurrier announcement about a longer term as HC is swaying Fields back. He had no issues with the school or the current coaches. And he was just following the other players because he was nervous about the coaching stability. Maybe the are just grasping as straws.
