Default Swinney Camp Notebook: Session 2, Day 2 (morning workout)

The second session of the Dabo Swinney Camp kicked into high gear Wednesday morning with a workout loaded with talent.

The Clemson Insider was present to watch part of the morning workout. Here's some news and notes from what we observed:

-- One of the headlining prospects on hand as a spectator was Laurel (Miss.) West Jones four-star defensive end Byron Young, who did not work out. He arrived to the camp on a golf cart with a few family members, Clemson recruiting ops coordinator Ty Clements and player development coach Miguel Chavis.

Young, who received an offer from Clemson in February, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 10 defensive end and No. 111 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He named a top 10 of Clemson, Mississippi State, Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and LSU in March.

-- Oxford (Ala.) five-star offensive lineman Clay Webb worked out this morning after observing the Tuesday evening workout. Webb, the top-ranked center in the 2019 class, looks the part and is very well built.

-- Another offensive lineman that caught our eye this morning was Elizabethton (Tenn.) tackle Garrett Jennings, who stands at 6-foot-7, 300-plus pounds.

Jennings has offers from a few schools including Western Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky. Clemson invited him back to camp this year. He participated in a full three-day session of the Swinney Camp last summer and camped for one day another year. He will camp at Tennessee this weekend and has been invited to camp at schools such as Miami and Cincinnati. He has been to Virginia Tech and Tennessee several times apiece.

-- Among the other offensive linemen that competed this morning were Dublin (Ga.) Trinity Christian 2019 tackle Caelan Williams and Imperial (Mo.) Seckman 2020 tackle Jake Seidel.

Williams (6-7, 300) holds offers from East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern and Massachusetts. Seidel (6-5, 280) visited Clemson in March as well.

-- The marquee name in the quarterback group was Myrtle Beach (S.C.) 2020 Luke Doty.

Doty picked up an offer from Florida State over the weekend to go with a bunch of other offers. He and his family are big Tiger fans and have been to Clemson numerous times for camps and games.

-- One of the top defensive linemen working out this morning was Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day 2020 end Kedrick Bingley-Jones. His offer sheet includes Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and others.

-- Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County 2020 four-star linebacker Sergio Allen, who arrived to campus yesterday and watched the evening workout, worked out today. Clemson offered him in March.

-- Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna's Ryan Wynn, the brother of former Clemson target Stephon Wynn Jr. and son of former Clemson tight end Stephon Wynn Sr., worked out with the linebackers. The 2021 prospect will also camp at Alabama and South Carolina, and his father told us that Virginia Tech may be close to offering.

-- Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones 2019 four-star cornerback Jaydon Hill was one of the standouts in the defensive back group. He lists offers from South Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Alabama and many others. He also visited Clemson in late March.

Another standout was Blythewood (S.C.) Westwood 2019 corner Cam Smith, who has offers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida State, among others.

Rocky Mount (N.C.) 2019 cornerback Shyheim Battle, who we mentioned watched the Tuesday evening workout, participated this morning as well.

-- Stay tuned to TCI, as will we have much more following the afternoon workout of the Swinney Camp.
