chili
Yes, I am aware it is way too hot outside for a good chili discussion. However, I just made a pot of my best chili EVER.
1 pound ground turkey
1 can chipotle peppers
1 homegrown Cayenne pepper, diced
1 can diced tomatoes (14oz, unflavored)
1 tbsp creole seasoning
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp diced onion
1 tsp hot mexican chili powder
1/2 cup cooking sherry
In a saucepan over medium heat, I browned the turkey with the cumin, chili powder, onion, and diced tomatoes.
While the turkey was simmering, I diced all of my peppers. Once the turkey was done, all other ingredients were added and heat was reduced to low. I covered the pot and stirred every 15 mins for one hour.
It is spicy, but would only garner a 3 alarm heat rating at a true chili cookoff. Those accustomed to eating hot things would rate it as "warm".
I call it TexMex turkey chili. No oils were added.
