That could be said for school in general. I know in Greenville, schools add about 10-15 minutes to my commute to work.

True! But you expect traffic like this in an area like Greenville, most of its roads are equipped for it. Clemson continues to grow, but the roads are made for the 1980s when only 10,000 students where here. Now there are close to 20,000 undergraduates and 7,000 graduates so the car population has doubled as well.

If you are trying to go to lunch somewhere in Clemson, it might take you 30 minutes on most days from the time you cross over the bridge on 123 from Seneca to your destination on the main drag in Clemson. On Fridays you might take even longer.

It gets backed up even worse on the Greenville side.

During the summer months or when the kids go home, it might take 10 minutes at the most to get to where I want to go.

I have lived in the Clemson area for more than 15 years, the traffic issue did not really become a problem until about seven or eight years go. Coincidentally, in coincides with Clemson's rise as a football power, again.

I used to just have to avoid this area on game weekends, now I avoid it all the time when school is in session. You just have to live here full-time to understand how bad it gets.

The traffic up 76/93 from Anderson (presumably headed to Seneca, Walhalla, Westminster) chokes 123 South to a standstill at the Ace hardware store.

Every afternoon, from 4 to 6 PM, is like a gameday when the students are here. Easley to Seneca??? Fughet about it.

Traffic in and around Clemson is going to get worse over time. Currently, there is no bypass around Clemson to handle the daily traffic from the areas East and West of Clemson. It seems as though everyone that lives West of Clemson works in area East of Clemson and everyone who works West of Clemson lives East of Clemson.

The long range problem re a bypass around Clemson would require a lengthy bridge across Lake Hartwell. Housing developments and other developed areas now cover most of the possible routes
