A painfully as it was to admit I said then and still agree today that Tommy lost the teams respect.

mez I can tell you with 100% certainty that it would've never happened. In fact, from everything I can tell Tommy didn't have more than a handful of players behind after game 1.

JT the only thing I can really say (although I already said it once) is that Tommy never had the team to lose. By the time he was gone there were only a handful (literally a handful) of players that cared about him.

That is true and totally sad. But that was then, and this is now....we have a lot to look forward to.....like a heckuva a season and a stellar recruiting class. One can wish cant he.

If TB had stay the entire year we would have had a losing season. We would have only won 1 or 2 more games and usuck would have been a disaster.

We would've sucked the rest of the year mainly because Spence would've still been here.

TB was a hell of a recruiter but he pretty much sucked as a coach.

CTB did have several great wins during his tenure....but what was his undoing was the losses to teams we should have wiped the field with and the losses that we were not prepared for....AND the mediocre seasons.

Give him credit, we did own FSU for a short stretch there, he OWNS usUcK, he helped us beat the Canes in Miami, the woodshed of the Vols, and a few others....memorable......but the pain from the bad losses seems to overshadow.

Miami doesn't count. A Larry Coker coached team is not something you brag about beating.
63 - 17 I'll give you that one and the over time win against GT.

3 big wins in 9 years. That is something to get excited about.

Even though it was Coker, it was still against a Miami team AT Miami and that has to count for something as they had not lost at home in a LONG time best I recall. If you are on that objective, then Fulmer at Tennessee shouldnt be in the conversation.

Looking back over CTB's career, what stands out most to me is cleaning up the program, restoring some pride into the program, getting recruits that once would not even give us a look to not only come for a visit, but would commit and play. Was not ever in his shoes, so I dont know how the x' and o's went down, but I dont think we were ever the same when RR left. I think the newness of our offense had worn off and ppl knew what to expect. Especially in the latter years, we became predicatable. And that pattern led to several losses that the talent alone could not overcome. I am grateful that he did what he did for the program, and now in retrospect, I see that he could not have gotten us over the hump to the next level. That is a tough pill to swallow. It is time to move on. It is past time.
