Default What is your favorite restaurant in the Clemson area?

Believe it or not I had never eaten at the Pot Belly Diner. Lee took me there last weekend and was very impressed.

Subs and sandwiches are a big part of my diet these days so that is another one to add to the rotation

Palmetto's Smokehouse and Oyster Bar has great locally inspired dishes.

As far as the bars downtown, I think Loose Change has the best food. Esso is great as well.

Smoking Pig has phenomenal barbecue, about 10 minutes down the road.

I do enjoy Pot Belly Deli as well.

Sardi's is good, I also like Sidetracked over in Central.

For Mexican, El Jimador for your more traditional Mexican restaurant, or Super Taco for a more local experience.

I pretty much agree with these except I'd add the "Lunchscale" and make that one Pot Belly Deli!

Loose Change by far the best food of a college town experience. The jalapeno hushpuppies are absolutely wonderful, but they won't make them on game days, so that part stinks. I get the club sandwich typically and end up having some left due to them being so filling, but the bird dog (chicken strip in a hotdog bun) is my backup if I just don't feel like a Club.

For a take-out staple, I do like Sardi's ribs.

Esso is the attmosphere, the food has always just been so-so to me.

Correctly stated- PBD is Pot Belly Deli
Great place for a multitude of sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches.
Their Reuben is "off the hook" good if you ask them to substitute spicy mustard for the thousand island dressing. They will gladly do so. The St. Stephen is also a fine choice.

However, there is no place in town or nearby I'd rather go than the Palmetto Smokehouse and Oyster Bar. A fantastic mix of upstate barbeque and low country specialties. If you go on Tuesday, you can get the daily special "low country boil" which is PROPERLY served on two sheets of brown paper and poured out of a bucket. I've been there about a dozen times, and there are still things on the menu I want to try.

Fine dining... I'm happy with either Calhoun Corners or The Blue Heron.
*footnote- I took my prom date to "W.J. Breas" many moons ago, which is now the Heron.

I've never been to the smokehouse either. I'm guessing it's somewhat new.

I love the Blue Heron.
