I was at first adimentaly against any possiblitiy of being in the SEC but now that i think about it, its the best thing for Clemson by far. Think about the money we would get from ESPN tv deal and how that would help spur the school even for the academic stuff as well. Moving to the SEC would be the best thing for Clemson period.

whats your point you afraid to play harder games and actually have to play some one worth a crap?? Thats sad to hear you say that you should crave for a harder schedule!!! I mean come on if i could pick i would say lets play Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Texas, and Penn State every yr as our Non conference games. If we lose we lose, but atleast we are playing teams that are worth playing

But...we lose the prestige of the ACC on the hardcourt...that's the catch 22 imho. We are not the Clemson basketball team of old. There are some good bball teams in the SEC(mainly in the likes of Kentucky), but it wouldn't be the same.

I think Tennessee, kentucky, Florida won a national title not that long, are not that far off. And the baseball will be equal. So we pick up the top of the 3 sports and drop maybe a little in the 2nd sport i think its ok

I wonder how Purnell would feel about it. Im thinking(and knowing) he wouldn't be for it at all. Those SEC teams in bball are sporadic in coming in strong(minus Kentucky who more often than not is strong)...SEC in basketball is like ACC in football. Purnell has worked sooo hard(and in a short amount of time has gotten us neck and neck with the ACC Kings.

I am going to go with pds(i think that was his name) and the hopes that Miami, FSU & Clemson return to where we used to be in football...and I truly believe that all of our programs are heading in that direction. Add in the Hokies the Jackets and WOW that's as strong a fb conference as any(ESPN just won't ever give us our due...we all know that). We won our National Championship as a member of the ACC and there is NO reason that can't be done again. Yes we might attract some more football recruits, but you WILL LOSE some of the basketball recruits for the vice versa reason. as I said, catch 22 all the way around

Look I know football is king, but to make a move into the SEC...I am not for it. Guess I am the tradiontionalist and I also don't feel the need to prove that Clemson football could compete in the SEC....cause I know we could.

How bout we get a new ACC comissioner instead?

Clemson would greatly improve on alot of areas if they should go to the SEC. SEC would give Clemson great national attention. This is why Clemson played Alabama a few years back and is playing more SEC teams in coming years. National attention equals to better recruiting in all sports. The best thing about Clemson going to SEC though is the rival games they would have a schedule something like this

1.Florida 2.Georgia(rival renewed) 3.South Carolina(Rival kept) 3.Tennessee 4.Kentucky 5.LSU (new rival-Death Valley game) 6-8.Rest of SEC western 9. GT-(Rival kept replaces South Carolina game) 10.NC state(rival kept-Textile bowl) 11 and 12. could be any team.

just say no to the SEC. the ACC is the best all around conference in the country hands down.

I think this story has more and more traction as the days go on. I sort of questioned John's rationale when he first wrote this, but it turns out he may have just been way ahead of the game.

Sounds more and more likely that Texas is the one wanting to jump ship from the big 12.

I am all for it! I get so sick of hearing the bickering and complaining about being in the SEC from fans of another SC team. I say, "BRING IT!".

That's amazing... if they were to go to the SEC there are 2 losses that would always be there, Georgia and Florida... Not good for the title hunt!

Georgia?? Do you recall how that worked out for Georgia against Georgia Tech? The Bulldogs scare me about as much as the Gamecocks and the Commodores, not very much.
