I heard that Williams mostly kept to himself on the official visit. Not that that's a bad thing, some people are like that. Seems like Georgia is the leader in the clubhouse and that isn't changing, IMO.

They didn't lose out on him. He worked out at Swinney Camp, but they didn't offer him because they had receivers on campus for an official visit that weekend and likely didn't want to give him an uncommittable offer. He later officially visited Cincy and committed then and there.

I was just speculating on a 3-star guy that has shown interest in us if we end up having to go down our board a bit. On tape, he shows some ball skills but has worked out for our coaches at Swinney camp so maybe there is a reason we didnít end up offering.

Thanks!

Vizzina was slow played by Notre Dame because they were going all in on Donte Moore. Hard to call it a competitive recruiting battle when they were going harder after a different guy.

As we gear up to head into camp and ultimately the season, the number of slots available on the big board are starting to dwindle. We are pretty much down to five (5) as far as I can tell. Those slots appear to be WR, RB, OL, DL & DB.

Obviously, the staff reserves the right to take a BPA option as we near Early/Feb Signing Day or if there is unexpected attrition at a position. We also typically carry some slots to offer to walk-ons as part of Dabo's culture he has created here.

So who are the remaining targets as of the beginning of August:

RB
Christopher Johnson out of South Florida is the staff's primary target. He is perceived to be a strong Miami lean but Spiller is doing everything he can to chip away. There is definitely mutual interest but if it's enough to lure him away from the hometown school remains to be seen. We need to get him on campus so, until a visit is set, I look at this one as a long shot.

Jeremiah Cobb still looms as a flip candidate but that is not something our coaches typically count on.

I don't see another offer going out until a move is made by either of these targets.

WR

Tyler Williams remains a candidate but he appears to be the Dawgs to lose at this point.

Ronan Hanafin at one time seemed destined for ND but Grisham has gotten back in here in a major way. The domers have three other WR commits and are still pursuing others. We are selling him as our main target for the second slot and it has resonated. He already took his official visit back in June so keep an eye peeled if we can get him back for a game in the fall.

OL

No candidates appear hot at the moment. Lew had the most traction but he looks like an AUB/UGA battle.

We may just reserve this scholly for another position.

DL

Speaking of which, Daevin Hobbs has emerged as another option at DE. We have yet to officially offer but if you see that go out, it may be a sign that we will hold at 3 offensive lineman in this class and take 6 defensive lineman. Once considered a UNC lock, he delayed his commitment date and Clemson has made a move here.

Things are looking way up for Kayden McDonald a large DT prospect out of Georgia. We are the perceived leader at the moment but no commitment date has been set.

DB

Robert Billings pulled the trigger and keeps our momentum going in the state of Georgia. With it being a down year for prospects in the state of SC, the staff clearly prioritized the Peach State and UGA becoming more of a national recruiting brand really played into our favor this year.

Shelton Lewis was previously a Pitt committment. He pulled back from that at the end of July and our staff almost immediately offered. We then got him on campus for the All In Cookout. We feel good here and he may pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

That pretty much sums up the big board as of today. We are up to 93 offers. Will be fun to see how things heat up as we get into the season and if we can hold onto all of our current pledges. NIL is still out there as the equalizer for teams that would not previously have been competition for our Tigers in recent years (Miami, Tenn, Lou, Ark, etc.).

We never offered and most of the schools that did was a non-committable offer to sweeten the pot on getting Tristan. I love that our staff typically does not play those games.

He is a 0-star and not a P5 caliber player. If anything, you may see him walk on here as the family moved to Pendleton to follow Tristan.

I thought somebody shared a UGA link yesterday to an article saying a huge DT or OL was expecting to commit to Clemson today. Did I misread that or did something change?

You are probably thinking of McDonald. A UGA homer just CBíed him to us.

Good stuff Sam. I have seen DJ Chester in the rankings and wondered why we hadnít offered but figured there must be a reason. One to track to be sure.

Also was surprised by the Matthews DB offer. The Buckeyes have taken a couple hits to their recruiting class recently so I bet it makes them uneasy. Doesnít seem like anything to get excited about yet but who knows.

Been a while since I posted anything and, truth be told, recruiting has been a bit slow right now. We have the majority of our slots filled and the focus during the season typically shifts to getting kids on visits for games and starting to get kids for the following recruiting class (2024) engaged.

With that being said, there are a couple nuggets floating out there:

RB recruiting has obviously been a difficulty this cycle. We just extended an offer to Jamarion Wilcox out of Georgia. He is a highly productive back that is under-rated due to his size. Georgia HS coaches absolutely rave about him and I think this would be an excellent get for us at this point in the cycle. The only caveat to that is that UGA is his dream school and they have been slow playing him. If they miss out on any of their remaining higher ranked targets, they could come calling late and steal another away from us as we've seen so many times. Hoping we can show him the love.

DE Tomarrion Parker is another new offer and is looking very promising. He was previously committed to Penn State and since pulling back from that pledge, has been primary focusing on southern schools. Tennessee and Florida are the competition here.

DT Kayden McDonald remains high on our board but Ohio State is still very involved with him and he is supposed to be visiting them this weekend. See if he actually makes the trip and what the outfall is. Larry Johnson is an elite recruiter of defensive lineman.

DT Stephiylan Green took that sneaky visit to the Georgia Dome for the UGA v Oregon game. It was sort of swept under the rug at the time but rumors persist that he could be a flip candidate to the Dawgs.

Other than that, there isn't a lot of buzz with new names. Keep an eye on late offers going out for offensive line or wide receiver. Kids getting new tape out there during their senior football season can provide for late evals. Our staff has shown a knack for picking up fast-rising players in December or even into the February signing day, if needed.

I've heard that NIL isn't the priority in his recruitment but it is a factor. UGA, Bama & Tenn appear to be the ones in line to get the remaining OVs. He visited UNC back in June.
