I’m pretty fond of the defense that annihilated Alabama. Not the subsequent ones that got torched by LSU and OSU. We aren’t terribly athletic at a couple positions. That can be hidden by a D-line like the Power Rangers.

We are adding talent at the LB position and IMO depth was already good. Safety play needs to improve. Those young guys hopefully can get better for next year and keeping Turner defintely helps as a coach on the field.

DL depth I hope will be there. Adding Foster and maybe Thomas back to Murphy, Henry, Mascoll, can be huge. Inside after Davis and Bresee there could be a depth issue. Ruke looked to be getting better but We will need Capehart and Williams as well as the big freshman coming in to be ready to contribute

I wonder if Venables will need to make some major changes to his approach to calling plays. Offenses are going to keep him from making last second adjustmenus. He might have to teach his players how to do a better job leading the all fence rather than counting on being in the right alignment and right play each time. They may be forced to depend upon reading their keys and acting on them.

We cannot replace the power rangers, but maybe we can reload their talent. Dexter was the one power ranger that is incredibly hard to replace. He was so big and so mobile for a man that size. Do we have anybody coming that will be like him? I think it really helps to have that one huge, mobile guy on the defensive line (330 lbs or more).

I doubt it. 2017 and 2018 were more talented on the back end than this one will be.
