Right. A study from the UK is showing about 0.6% of infected people have experienced a reinfection with symptoms after 5 months. So itís still pretty rare, and usually the second time around is not as severe.

Potential false positive last time? Was he symptomatic last time?

Seems like last time was not as severe, so this plays into some stuff I've read where asymptomatic antibodies are not as prevalent/don't last as long because that was more T-cell vs a true antibody.

A recent study from England found that those infected with the virus had 4 to 5 months immunity. If he initially had the virus in May, that was approximately 8 months ago.

One thing to note. That study will continue so they could only report findings up to the 5th month. There are some that think the immunity will continue as more months/yrs accumulate. Itís interesting to note people who survived SARS1 are still showing potential immunity some 18 yrs later.

I bet he had a false positive the first time and if he had symptoms it may have been another coronavirus that causes the common cold. I say that because he said this second positive showed worse symptoms which is opposite of what others have experienced when reinfected.
