There was (and may still be) a working shine still on Clemson. It made some alcohol used in labs (or so I was told).
A few of us scientists "borrowed" some lab equipment and set up a small still in the dorm.
For mash, we used popcorn.
We had a gallon fermenting over the Christmas holidays.
Upon returning discovered the jug had exploded and the odor in the dorm was hard to deal with. No one turned us in, so that was good.
