Default What are your thoughts on Cam to the Pats?

How will Cam do this season? Do you think the Patriots will be a true contender in the AFC again with Cam?

First, I'm glad he's gone. I also wonder if he will be able to be his pouty self under Belichick. I can't say I hope he does really well, because I'm not that big a fan of him or the Pats, but I guess in good Christian conscience I should wish him well. Maybe Belichick will get the best out of him. Maybe that's just what he needs??

All those years of laughing at Panthers fans for Cam Newton have come full circle. Don't know what they are thinking other than they wanted to spend a lot of money to be really bad.

Lots of upside little downside. Classic Pats move.

My only question because I don't follow the NFL that much, did the Patriots upgrade their WRs group? Brady had no where to throw the ball last year. Cam will do even worse unless the Patriots get some better WRs

I do not think they are spending a lot (it's a lot to me but not in NFL terms). I think his salary is $1 Mil with up to $7 mil in incentives. If this is true, they will not be spending a lot unless he performs. The big question is how is signing him going to affect the rest of the team and QB's.

Actually, now that I have read his contract the Pats are getting a deal. It is totally incentive based. Only $1 mil is guaranteed ($750k is the minimum NFL contract), with the rest being incentives. They will suck, and then draft Trevor.

LOL, the other QB's probably make more.

Cam will do just enough to get the Pats to the playoffs, and do his predictable disappearing act.

I'm laughing. Cam is done. He isn't even close to being the same QB he was 5 years ago. The wear and tear of the league to go along with getting older has caught up to him and he is not a good enough thrower to adjust.

The Patriots will suck this year and I am going to love every second of it.

Pats have done better with 3rd, 4th, and 6th round QB picks than most. No need to think this year will be any different.

They did good with one. Tom Brady.

Cam is no Tom Brady and is not even Michael Vick anymore. He was a great player in his prime because he could run and throw, but when he has to just throw, he isn't that accurate of a passer and in the NFL you have to be accurate.

I personally think Cam will be motivated to perform this season in order to get a better contract next year. I think he'll have a decent season, with Belichick and co. getting the most out of him, and the Patriots will be in the playoff discussion per usual.

Regardless, I'm happy the Panthers moved on from him.
