Default A couple of Albert Huggins notes

Just a few quick notes to pass along from my conversation with Huggins...

-He still wants to visit Florida before making a decision. The biggest reason why? Brad Lawing, the former South Carolina d-line coach who's now the d-line coach down there. Huggins said they've got a really close relationship.

-The Gamecocks aren't completely out of the picture, but Huggins did say they're not as high on his list as a few others.

-I asked him about next weekend's showdown in Athens and whether or not he'll be there.

"I don't know yet. The next visit I want to try to take is Florida."

-When asked if he has a favorite, Huggins smiled and said:

"I don't have a favorite. Can I plead the fifth?"

Ugh. I never thought we might be competing with the Gators for him. They don't have many commits yet, do they? I can imagine a serious press on Huggins.

If you read our interviews the past few months on Huggins he has consistently said he wants to visit Florida.

Don't worry too much about that visit. Don't think for family reasons he would go that far from home

I do feel like we're gonna get Albert in the end, but he has a way of making me a little nervous.

But the fit just feels right at Clemson to me for him. He's visited often and I think he's comfortable here.

Yeah. I was aware from TCI reporting he wanted to visit. Just never realized he had such a relationship with their DC. When I saw that it made me think it is more than just a checklist item.

It is THE reason he wants to visit Florida...take that for whatever it's worth.

One of my best friends from high school is Albert's 1st cousin and he told me a while ago that he was always a Clemson fan. My best friend and I both went to Clemson and from talking to my friend he thinks Al will be a Tiger unless something remarkable happens between now and when he signs.

Let's hope Brad Lawing the D-line coach isn't too "remarkable".

The situation is probably one where Huggins is just being honorable by saying good things about the coach and making the effort to have an official visit. Moving to Gainesville sounds undesirable. And maybe having Lawing NOT at SCar now actually works more in our favor.

I live in Orangeburg. According to one of his team mates, Georgia is now very high on his list.

With Ledbetter, Patrick, and Thompson on board I think Clemson definitely lands Albert.
