Talking smack!

So, my son had a middle school wrestling tournament today. Just before his lasts match, the other kid's coach tells our coach "my kid is going to kick your kid's butt" or something to that effect [pause]

Needless to say my son pinned the other kid in about 30 seconds. It was hilarious; turns out this man wrestled against our coach in HS - he ran his mouth then too - but our coach is a 2-time state champ. The other guy is just a loud mouth!

Is it still talking smack when you lose or just stupid?

Congratulations on your son's pin. It always makes it sweeter when the talk is not backed up by results.

I believe most bragging before the fact is stupidity and, as you well know, there's a whole lot of that going around. Unfortunately, there seems to be no remedy so we can only hope someone develops a good recipe for crow.

I would like to take some credit for his success in wrestling, but he was born a natural athlete; I think he got it from his uncle, because I was not athletic as a kid.

It's just stupid. There is nothing better than shutting somebody up without ever saying a word!! Congrats to your son on his win!
