What visiting stadium is overrated?
What visiting stadium disappointed your expectations from what you thought it would be before going there?

I was disappointed with Virginia Tech. It was not what I expected. I just was not impressed.

FSU. I remember the tailgating was horrible and the stadium wasn't that nice. This was back in 00-01 I think.

Re: What visiting stadium is overrated?
I was a little disappointed in VT. The fans were nice but the stadium wasnt as loud as i thought it would be. Of course it was cold and we beat them 23-3 or something like that.

VTech was just not the environment that everyone hyped it up to be. But that could also have been because they stuck us up in the top corner of the stadium...

Re: What visiting stadium is overrated?
Ohio St. Went up there my freshman year at Clemson to see them play Cincinatti. I was disappointed in the crowd and the noise. The stadium itself was beautiful. Stadium was 100,000+ full, easy, but I could whisper to the person next to me and they could hear me. I've been in The Valley and yelled at people next to me and they couldn't hear me.

Georgia Tech
Aside from having the most ridiculously long name in all the conference, there are seats on the west side that are 13 yds beyond the end line. If you look straight ahead and down, you are staring at the twentieth row of the student section.
I will gladly admit that I am spoiled by Memorial Stadium, but Sanford in Athens didn't give me one ounce of Texas High School football feel like the gnats did.

I haven't been since the early 90's and prior to the last remodel but I have friends who are GT grads and they absolute hate games there for the exact reason you said.
I haven't been since the remodel of Groves either but it was always one of my favorites. It's small but there isn't a bad seat in the house and the home fans are absolutely the best.

Re: What visiting stadium is overrated?
NC State.
Hated it.
Seemed most were drunk and/or rude. And, indeed, they literally had signs in the bathroom saying not to put liquor bottles in the toilet. I had heard that before going, but I believed that had to have been exaggerated. Nope. And I saw them, too.
I mean, who thinks to put a liquor bottle in the toilet? Why not throw in empty sunscreen bottles, water bottles, broken sunglasses, popcorn containers, etc.?
Got hounded going to/coming from the stadium.
Honestly, I was a bit surprised.

Byrd Stadium when MD was in the conference. It was a dumpster fire.

Re: What visiting stadium is overrated?
I would say Louisville was a disappointment when Clemson played there last season. Prime time top-15 matchup on national TV, but the atmosphere was laughable. Of course, there wasn't much for Louisville fans to cheer about in that one.

Re: What visiting stadium is overrated?
Ok Will, allow me to paraphrase
BDS@GF... where the gnats play on North Ave in midtown ATL is a glorified high school stadium. They keep trying to improve it, but they keep missing the mark.
For the record, I understood this thread to be about the structure and not the fanbase. For over 50 years, GT has been trying to "upgrade" their stadium without starting from scratch and making it a true gem in the middle of the heart of Georgia.
In doing so, they extended the home side bleachers North... well beyond the end line of the North end zone, even more so than the absolute worst seat of the upper decks in the Valley.
I find the stadium in Atlanta to be the most absolute crap venue I have ever visited.

NC State fans are some of the worst around. I can't wait to smack the Pack this year.
