[QUOTE=fchrisgrimm;468945]This team has never looked like a true playoff team - I think the coaching staff did a great job of managing us back into the playoffs.

The OL carries much of the weight of this loss. And Bryant is a good but not great QB - but a game manager can get a team to a championship. In this case, he made a couple of bad, game changing plays.

I do think the loss will open up next season to a fair quarterback competition - bottom line being "what do we have to lose?"

At the end of the day, who thought we would return to the playoff? Nice run. And we shouldn't drop off next season (while FSU will spend another year in the wilderness).

If I can sound like a complete homer for one moment...
Alabama was totally rewarded for taking the week off against Auburn. The loss didn't hurt them in the eyes of the committee. And getting to spend "championship week" on vacation, while Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, and, ahem, Ohio State all won must-win games, gave them an extra couple of weeks to rest and prepare. I'm not complaining, but the committee might ought to consider the competitive advantage for teams that don't play during "Week 13" (the same would go for Notre Dame, I suppose).[/QUOTE
Agree completely. All playoff teams should have to play an equal number of games. No way you should get a ďbyeĒ when you donít win your division. Again I donít blame Bama. They were just the beneficiary this year but the system should be adjusted

I do think we've had a great year, but like some have said...some hard decisions need to be made in the off-season.

It's very clear at this point how special of a player Watson was and how many shortcomings he covered up.

If you want to stay on Bama's level then you must recruit and process guys when appropriate. Play nice guy if you want to, but quality depth matters.

Now we can only hope that Bama crushes UGA so we can finish 3rd, if not 2nd if they beat 'em badly enough.

I agree with this. It's amazing how many fans will throw Cain to the curb but question why we have guys on scholarship who will never see the field and you'll be run off the board.

Would've loved to have seen Oklahoma vs that defense. No excitement whatsoever this year to watch a same conference championship game.

Absolutely! We need a better O-line. Watson took attention away from their shortcomings.

Wait, so having guys on scholly who won't see the field somehow means that we can't criticize the player who's supposed to be our alpha receiver who's had a terribly inconsistent year?

Injuries may take a toll on Bama next week...they've had several go down tonight.
