Default The Insider Report

It is time for Monday’s edition of The Insider Report. We hope everyone had a great weekend.

The excitement is building for National Signing Day. For the players that are signing on Wednesday it is a time of excitement and a very pressure filled time for many as they make one of the biggest decisions in their life.

Montravius Adams Update

We are getting a lot of information of Montravius today. We still have a few things to confirm. Some of it good and some of it not so good.

First the good news. One of our sources today talked with one of the prospects that was on campus this weekend for an official visit to Auburn. This recruit obviously spent time hanging out with Adams and the other recruits on campus.

My source asked this prospect where they thought Adams was going and the response was “oh man he’s going to Clemson.”

We don’t know much about this player’s relationship with Adams, but thought we would pass this along as it appears to be a hot topic of conversation.

We are also getting some information that is not so positive on Adams. It does not sound like Adams has been communicating with the Clemson staff since his visit to Auburn.

Another good source told us they are hearing rumors it will be Auburn. Coaches at another school now believe it will be Auburn.

There is definitely more concern at Clemson right now about Adams. This one is changing by the hour so we will certainly have more tonight.

The Latest on Alexander

We also wanted to pass along the latest on Alexander. As you know he is impossible to get reliable information from as a media member. He does a great job of keeping things to himself.

We can tell you that we don’t think the Clemson staff really doesn’t have a good feel yet for what he will do either.

Our sources in Florida continue to believe Clemson could be the team to beat but we don’t have any concrete information on our end to confirm that prediction.

We will continue to work to get more information on this race.

Obviously MacKensie would be an enormous pickup for the Tigers and would get Clemson plenty of love on ESPN as they have him rated as their No. 4 prospect nationally.

Successful Junior Day

We have spoken with a number of the 2014 and 2015 prospects that were on campus for the Elite Junior Day this weekend. The returns have been very positive. Several of the prospects stayed for the entire weekend.
The staff did a great job of getting a very impressive collection of talent on campus for the event. The group of receivers and linebackers on campus was especially impressive.

It would have been difficult for the staff to spend as much time with the Elite visitors if they were also handling some official visitors so that worked well. The Elite Junior Day has worked well the last two years to you can expect to see that become an annual event this time of year.

We have a lot more interviews heading your way this week from the Elite Junior Day visitors.

2015 Elite Receiver on Campus

2015 receiver George Campbell was on campus all weekend and loved the visit. Campbell will be one of the top players in the nations for his class. Getting him on campus so early was a big plus for the Tigers.

One source told us he may be better than any of the 2014 Florida receivers.

McCrary Loves Visit

2014 Florida receiver Jacob McCrary couldn’t help talking about how much he enjoyed the visit. Those that followed him on Twitter could tell he loved the visit from Tweets like this:

“Clemson is. A place like no other”
“Yoo no lie Clemson feel like this is we're I'm supposed to be”
“It was fun up in Clemson now it's time to get back to Miami and finish this grind”

Clemson is now one of the teams to beat for McCrary.

QB in Good Hands

There has been a lot of talk about the future at quarterback for the past few weeks. Clemson looked to be the leader for Elite 11 MVP Asiantii Woulard before backing off early last week. With DeShaun Watson taking visits to other schools there is concern about whether he will stay firm with his commitment to the Tigers.

We wanted to pass along some information on Chad Kelly that will hopefully help fans feel better about the future at quarterback. Talking with sources very close to the football program they are very excited about Kelly’s future with the Tigers. In fact one source told us if Tajh was not as talented as he is that Kelly would be seeing the field next year.

Kelly has great mobility and the staff has been very pleased with his arm and his accuracy.

Obviously Clemson needs depth at the position in case Kelly gets hurt. If Kelly stays healthy the Clemson offense will be in good hands for the next four year at quarterback.

Radakovich in Favor of New Arena

We have some new information related to the basketball facilities at Clemson. We have learned from a source that Athletic Director Dan Radakovich is in favor of Clemson tearing down Littlejohn and replacing it with a new arena in the same location.

As we reported last week what to do with the basketball facilities was on the agenda of the Board meeting. A decision has been made to scrap the old plans that involve adding a new practice facility and player’s facility.

They are now evaluating two options. The first option, which Radakovich favors, is to tear down the existing facility and build a new one that will include upgraded practice facilities. The other option is to modify the existing structure to include club seats and the new practice/players facilities.

We don’t know yet which direction the Board will agree to pursue but we will continue to monitor this situation and let you know as we learn more.

New Architect

We have also learned that Clemson plans to hire a full-time architect to work for the Athletic Department. This in-house architect will help to make sure the existing facilities are keep updated and to bring ideas for new facilities.

TCI Signing Day

We will have a lot of great coverage for everyone on National Signing Day. With the additions of two of the best writers in the business, Ed and Will, our coverage will go to a new level this year.

We hope everyone will tune in as we celebrate another outstanding recruiting class and bring you coverage all day long.

Dabo’s press conference will be later than usual this year because of Tyrone Crowder’s late announcement time. Dabo’s press conference will be held at 4:30 PM. We will have live updates, video and full coverage following the press conference.

Sounds like MA is feeling the pressure from his buddies and other coaching staffs. The young man should just shut things down, take some time for himself, and do what he feels is best for him. It is a little troublesome that he has cut off communication with Clemson's staff. I hope he has at least done the same with all other schools.

Sounds like our new AD is a progressive thinker who has big plans for the future at Clemson. Good to see!

Chad Kelly has the talent to be a great one at Clemson. Great news about him and the impression he is making on the field.

But nothing has changed...even his coach came out and Said that they were not talking to anybody as of Sunday night until he makes his decision on Wednesday.. Surely if Clemson was still in contact that is almost certain that he was going there...but as of this date nothing has changed since he ended his communication. There are only rumors of going to Auburn....but we are getting quotes.

Default Don't lose faith in MA...

He is a character guy and knows that wherever he goes at this point he will be fine from a future career perspective. Now it is just a matter of where his heart is more than anything.

After all he has seen and been through, I'm thinking Clemson will win out. We didn't press him or push him and were very genuine with him.

Wait and see...

If he isn't talking with Clemson coaches that is incredibly bad news.

If Clemson does not sign Montravious Adams, it's time to start re-evaluating Dabo's title of "The Closer."

I never believed Adams would come here. Someone tell me again why being in the ACC is good for us. Get used to losing more and more recruits to espn, I mean the SEC.

What's the opposite of warm & fuzzy? Cold & prickly? I think that's what this feeling is now.

I know I'll be called a worry wart or other names, but the latest with Adams does not sound positive, especially cutting off contact with Clemson.

That's what I'm sayin...he's not talking to any staff per his coach yesterday. He has shutdown all communication with everybody...AU, UGA, and us. and like I said they only have rumors that he is going there...we have quotes from staffs and prospects that he's coming to Clemson. I'm taking my chances with Clemson.

Relax people, let this one play out. It's not like he signed today or anything.

At least give it until Wednesday before you totally give up hope.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and take a look at the current 2013 board. There are some pretty good names on that list, and some that can still allow Clemson to continue to move in the right direction. Let's just see what happens on Wednesday!
