Default Three Players Suspended for Orange Bowl

We just received confirmation that three Clemson players have been suspended for the Orange Bowl. Ammon Lakip, Jay Jay McCullough and Deon Cain will not play Thursday night.

We are told they were notified before practice on Tuesday.

We have also just confirmed that all three failed a drug test.

We are continuing to work the story and will release more information as we get confirmation.

Well, that was DUMB! Cain must need to grow up a bit, the other 2 don't have that excuse...

Hope Lakip enjoyed his college career while it lasted.

Pray Cain gets a second chance.

If this was a failed drug test from earlier in the year it's bad!!

If this happened on the trip then it is not forgivable imo. The biggest moment of your college career and your teammates/brothers careers, as they call each other you do that? To me it is unforgivable.

Hopefully McCullough & Lakips careers are over at Clemson, they've both had multiple strikes and continue to be idiots.

Cain better recognize the opportunity he has here and get it together. He's already had to be benched for a game this year and now this. Can't imagine there's much more of a leash for him. He's putting an opportunity in jeopardy of having a nfl career.

What a bunch of idiots, everyone of them. JJ and Lakip have learned nothing and Deon apparently hasn't learned from the Miami game.

Lakin and McCullough are gone. Cain will be back next year I would imagine. Hope he gets it together, but I have zero concerns if he cant. Deep roster and some studs coming in next year.

Just stupid. I just don't buy the "they are just college kids" excuse. They all know the rules and consequences. Drug tests are done before every NCAA championship - it should not have been a surprise. They have not only hurt themselves but also their teammates - incredibly selfish. 2 of them are supposed to be leaders on the team. Very very disappointing.

Why does he deserve a second chance. Before we say hey kids make mistakes etc. This is the biggest game of his career so far and his teammates careers. What about the seniors who can't come back next year. Was it fair to them for him to make a selfish decision? I mean how can you not leave that stuff alone for a month or so or even the season?

That was the most selfish decision these 3 could make and they are definitely not #ALLIN

Deon Cain is Mike Bellamy 2.0. With the talent we are bringing in at receiver, get him out of here. 2 times in 6 months...smh.

I see failing a drug test as being a lot different from needing an attitude tweek.

No one knows the reason why Cain was suspended for the Miami game so to say he needs to get it together is assuming and that is never a good thing. As far as the other 2, Lakip is a senior so his career was over after this year anyways and JJ I am afraid to say probably just sealed his fate as a Tiger but he had ample amount of time to get it together so I can't feel sorry for him. With that said there are rules that have to be followed and if you break those rules you have to be dealt with but I am not going to judge these young men on failing a drug test. I am sure the last thing any college kid wants to do is take a drug test. Hopefully it is a learning lesson for these kids but they don't need so called fans judging their lives or their decisions. They made their choices now they must live with the consequences and it isn't fair to have those fans who know nothing about them berate them because they can't help their favorite team win. If it is your first instinct to name call and tell everyone how stupid they are then you damn sure better have a clean closet....

It's still a suspension. Call it however you like, that's strike two on Cain.

Actually, from a depth perspective, I would think losing Lakip would be worse.

Who backs him up?

I will say this much... I have a family I provide for and my job requires me to have random drug tests etc. I pass them every time. You know why? I don't do drugs or drink because it can cost me my job, therefore, my family and livelihood. We were all young once and made mistakes that's for sure. My point is sometimes those mistakes can cost us our job, life or in some cases our scholarships. No matter how you spin it you can't get caught failing a drug test, if that's the case, before the biggest game of your career. It's really selfish and shows the true character of the individuals.
