Default Dabo Swinney Camp Notebook: Session 2, Day 1 (evening)

Day One of the second session of the Dabo Swinney Camp concluded with a workout Tuesday evening.

The Clemson Insider was on hand for the workout. Here are some news and notes from what we witnessed:

-- Clemson five-star quarterback commit DJ Uiagalelei headlined a group of prospects from California that participated in the evening workout after arriving on campus yesterday and checking into camp this afternoon. DJ looked good from what we saw and showcased his strong, accurate arm while throwing to the wide receivers.

-- One of those receivers who traveled to Clemson with the California contingent was Uiagalelei’s teammate at Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco High, 2021 four-star receiver Beaux Collins. He stands at 6-foot-4 and has long arms with good hands, which he used to pluck a ball out of the air for a nice grab when we watched him.

-- Three of DJ’s other teammates from St. John Bosco worked out this evening as well: 2021 offensive lineman Maximus Gibbs (offers from Florida, FSU, Miami, Oklahoma and others), 2022 OL Earnest Greene (offers from FSU, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Southern Cal and others) and 2022 running back Rayshon Luke (offers from Duke, Georgia and Illinois).

A pair of prospects from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei also traveled with the California group: 2021 four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies and 2021 four-star linebacker Raesjon Davis.

The California recruits will be on campus until Thursday and plan to work out tomorrow as well.

-- We mentioned in our Tuesday afternoon notebook that Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood 2021 four-star tight end Jake Briningstool was among the campers and will be at Clemson for the full three-day second session that ends Thursday.

Briningstool spent time talking one-on-one with tight ends coach Danny Pearman prior to the evening workout, and quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter walked over to introduce himself.

-- One prominent 2021 offensive lineman competing at the camp was Noah Josey from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder has over a dozen offers from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Penn State and Virginia Tech.

Josey had a chance to chop it up with several of Clemson’s current offensive linemen, including Jackson Carman, Matt Bockhorst, Tremayne Anchrum and Sean Pollard, before the evening workout.

-- We mentioned earlier that Clemson legacy recruit Keith Adams Jr. will be camping all week. A couple more Clemson legacies are among those camping this week: Greenville (S.C.) 2022 wide receiver Aalijah Kelly and Buford (Ga.) 2022 safety Jake Pope.

Kelly is the son of former Clemson running back Yusef Kelly, while Pope’s father is former Tiger DB Brad Pope who played for Ken Hatfield and Tommy West.

-- One notable defensive tackle who worked out today was Isaac Washington, a 2021 prospect from Pilot Mountain (N.C.) East Surry. He has offers from Auburn and Virginia Tech.

-- Clemson five-star DL commit Myles Murphy was at both workouts today. He rode around with Swinney on a golf cart during the evening workout.

The Dabo Swinney Camp rolls on tomorrow. We will have coverage from the morning and afternoon workouts, so stay tuned to TCI.
