Default Background on Fruhmorgen transfer, another transfer coming?

As you know we first told you about the possible Jake Fruhmorgen transfer on December 26. At that time we decided to keep his name quiet. We wanted to pass along some background on his situation.

We were told at the time from sources in Florida that Jake's father was already going around telling people that his son would be transferring from Clemson. We can tell you that at the time the Clemson staff was not yet aware of his plans to leave Clemson.

Sources told The Clemson Insider that there was a personal situation with Jake's family that had led to his departure from the team. We were also told that Coach Swinney's remarks earlier in the season after the Boston College game about Jake's performance had played a role in his decision to leave the program. As you can imagine it had to be a difficult situation for Jake to watch the Tigers come to his hometown and win it all. Based on our sources Jake had already decided he would transfer before Christmas.

Don't be surprised to see Fruhmorgen end up at Florida.

The loss certainly hurts Clemson's depth at tackle, but Pollard and Anchrum did a good job after he left the team and of course the Tigers played well enough to whip South Carolina 56-7, win the ACC, defeat Ohio State 31-0 and beat the unbeatable Alabama.

Now we have some news on another transfer that will likely impact the Tigers before next season. Two sources told TCI that a running back will be transferring. The timing is not yet clear but it is expected to happen before the summer. Once again we have the name, but we will hold that information until the appropriate time.

As you know Clemson's lone 2017 running back commit Richardson is no longer committed to the Tigers. With the departure of Gallman and now a transfer coming the need to add a running back for 2017 has increased. The staff is doing there best to find another quality running back that wants to be a Tiger in the 2017 class.

We will release more information at the appropriate time.

Always....always oversign a bit. This happens every year to every program, there is no need to get right to 85 because someone leaves.

There have been stories about Richardson's eligibility floating around for a while now...like several months. I'll be anxious to see who's leaving and who we end up signing.

It's Dye, he already threatened to transfer prior to the playoffs, don't freaking freak out people.

Feaster, Dye, Choice, Fuller and likely someone in the current recruiting class. That's still a pretty crowded backfield. Ray Ray could play RB too Now I'm hoping its not Choice or Feaster but still we loaded and I'm sure that figures in to whatever kids decision.

Dye seems buried pretty deep in the chart so it wouldn't surprise me. I feel bad for him the way things have turned out.

Is McCloud really a good candidate for a college RB? He has the skills and the history, but he doesn't have the size or bulk to me.

And once again I wish Fruh good look as he moves on.

So... you get your feelings hurt from being called out by your head coach after you played a really crappy game against a mediocre Boston College team AND after you've played sub par in several other games before the BC game?

Haha ok dude... enjoy Florida

Very sorry about whatever family situation is going on, I don't wish that on anyone... but come on. Don't complain about being called out after having several bad games in a row

Just a thought - the family situation could have been a factor in his performance. When you are his age big and personal distractions are hard to deal with often.

You can't seriously believe that Ray Ray is a RB at this level... Running jet sweeps is one thing, but there's not a chance in hades he can do all the things that Gallman/Feaster did/can do between the tackles

It very well could have been a factor... When I was at Clemson I went through some family stuff as well, it sucks big time... But maybe Jake should have spoken up sooner about what was going on and approached this situation in a different way... Half way through the season doesn't exactly seem like great timing... That's the vibe I got from Dabo during that one pre game Tuesday press conference (I think it was a Tuesday) where a media member asked him about Jake's status and his answer, facial expressions, and body language were just ones of frustration with whatever had unfolded... Dabo wouldn't act like that over something that with a player having family issues that was really bad and heart breaking... the whole situation is/was just really odd and didn't/still doesn't make any sense

Dye or Choice is the RB leaving.

As for Fruh, I haven't lost any respect for him. Things happen and he made a choice. I have no respect for his Dad though. If the university hasn't announced it, then he shouldn't be running his mouth.

We have had two linemen who took personal time away from the team and came back and performed awesomely. It is not like we don't have a history of standing behind our players when trouble comes calling.

I might be in the minority here, but I don't really have a problem with a layer transferring. College can be a huge adjustment for many different reasons, and some adjust better than others. I would hope that the main reason isn't playing time, but what ever the reason I wish them well.

Can't be Dye, he's a RS Jr. if he leaves he will expend his eligibility, unless he graduates. I don't believe he has yet. If he does then more power to him.

Graduate transfer maybe? They don't have to sit out a year.

Maybe that's why the timing would be after spring semester?
